George A. Koesbauer, 90, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday at the James E. Van Zandt V.A. Medical Center.
He was born in Yellow Springs, son of the late Frances (Koesbauer) Sonnleitner.
He married Vera Lockard, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by a daughter, Rose Hinz, and husband, Gary, of Florida; four grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Elizabeth Rider.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen; a daughter, Barbara Shoop; and a grandson, Glenn.
He attended St. Mary Catholic School and St. Mary Catholic Church in Altoona.
George proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, and then worked as a baker for Stroehmann Bakery in Norristown, retiring after 37 years.
He was a Life Member of American Legion Post 827 in Altoona, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a 15-year member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association.
In his spare time, George enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. Committal will be at Blair Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
