Gregory Whysong Obituary

Gregory William Whysong, 62, of Altoona passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Greg was born in Roaring Spring and was the son of the late William Leland Whysong and Bernadine (Weyandt) Whysong.
Greg is survived by his wife Kathy (Walters) Whysong and their three children Lindsay Whysong who is currently serving in the United States Navy, Alexis Whysong and Connor Whysong at home. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Ethel (Dell) Walters.
Greg graduated from Claysburg-Kimmel High School in 1978.
Greg had always worked in the automobile industry and was last employed by Legacy Truck Centers in Altoona as a Parts Salesman for many years.
Greg had previously been a member of the Jaffa Shrine Jeepsters.
Greg previously attended Foot-of-Ten Bible Church where he had taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Greg loved spending time with his wife and children and especially loved attending his children’s sporting events (basketball, gymnastics, and track and field). He also liked watching NASCAR races and Penn State football games and he attended quite a few Penn State Lady Lion basketball games. In addition to sports, Greg really enjoyed the family vacations to Disney World.
Greg had a special fondness for rescue dogs. Over his lifetime he adopted a number of dogs who became a special part of his family. Tucker, one of his beagles, was one of Greg’s special buddies.
At Greg’s request, there will be no public viewing. A private memorial service will be held later at the convenience of the family.
