Guy “Chew” A. Ratchford, 92, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday in New Castle. He was born in Gallitzin, son of the late Leo and Mary (Troxell) Ratchford. He married Annette Bookwalter in 1952, who preceded him in death in 2008, after sharing 56 years of marriage.
Survivng are his daughter, Debra Kilmore, and husband, Tim of New Castle; a son, James “Bud”, and wife, Sandy, of Lakemont; two grandchildren: Ginger Ponziani and husband, Mike and Jason Ratchford and wife, Katlyn; seven great-grandchildren: Mikey, Gianna, Gabe, Melena, Haley, Alonna, and Kinsley; and two great-great grandchildren: Nylah and Wesley.
He was preceded in death by his siblings.
Chew was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School and served in the US Army.
He retired from McLanahan Corporation after 40 plus years.
Chew was a member of the Hollidaysburg Alumni Band.
He enjoyed plumbing, bowling, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends will be received from 4-7pm Tuesday, August 5, 2025 and Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 10-11am at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg where a funeral service will immediately follow at 11am.
