Nov 8, 1934 – July 9, 2024
H. Dean Allison, 89, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Steward and Hazel (Smith) Allison. He first married Mary Jean Amarosa who preceded him in death. He then married Susan Butler in 1993.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 31 years; a daughter, Pamela Weakland of Hollidaysburg; a son Dean and wife Erin of Hollidaysburg; a grandson, Second Lt. Dylan S. Allison, US Army; a special niece, Kathy Vincent (Paul); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Dean graduated from Scotland School for Veterans Children and then enlisted in the USMC.
He retired as proprietor and agent of H. Dean Allison Insurance Agency in 1994.
Dean was a member of Park Hills Country Club, and he formerly served on the Board of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Dean was an avid golfer. In 1994, he was a managing partner of the Huntingdon Country Club.
Dean will be remembered for many things: his fierce love for family and friends, there was nothing better to him than to have his family close, and his gentleness and kindness to all. Dean always enjoyed a good game of golf and having martinis.
He will be loved and missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Friends will be received from12-2pm and 4-6pm on Monday, July 15, 2024 and also from 12 – 2pm on Tuesday, July 16, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service with military honors will immediately follow at 2pm.
