Harry “Frank” Hileman, 86, peacefully passed away on February 5 at Shadyside Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Williamsburg on October 28, 1937, eldest son of Harry L. and Zelma M. Hileman.
He married his loving wife of 57 years, Iris Wright Hileman on January 28, 1967.
Surviving are three children: Arlene Rose (Steve) in FL, Keith Hileman (Beth) in OH, and Kevin Hileman (Sharon) of Harrisburg; nine grandchildren: Spencer and Shane Dodson, Emma Gregory (Josh), Isaac Hileman (Kia), Luke, and Trey Hileman, Kaley, Kaden, and Kenadee Hileman; a great grandchild, Bennett Gregory; and siblings: Janet Dick, Barbara Everhart, Judy Focht, Linda Brubaker (Richard), Kenneth Hileman (Joann), David Hileman (Alicia), John Hileman, and Jeffery Hileman (Julia).
He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law: Sherman Dick, Ronald Everhart, Walter “Bud” Focht and a sister-in-law Dorothy Hileman.
Harry graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School in 1955, and Williamson Trade School in 1958. He worked for 32 years at SKF and retired in 1992. He served as Tax Collector for Frankstown Township for 28 years.
Harry faithfully served as a member of Frankstown Park Missionary Church, Jaffa Shrine Chanters, Hollidaysburg Lodge #220, Chief Logan Forest #131, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Beaver Dam Hunting Club, and Martinsburg Sportsman’s Club. He loved gardening, bowling (he met Iris there), hunting, and tinkering outdoors. You could chat with him at the donut shop and Altoona Curve games, holding season tickets since 1999.
Friends will be received from 10am to 12pm Friday February 9, 2024, at Frankstown Park Missionary Church, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 12pm with Pastor Roland Cadle officiating.
Private interment at New Canoe Creek Cemetery.
