Helen L. (Hosek) Bender

June 11, 1936 – March 18, 2021

Helen L. (Hosek) Bender, 84, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday at her residence. She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late William and Helen Hosek. She married Robert P. Bender in June 1957. Surviving are her husband Bob; children: Laurie Tabinski (Jim) in NM, Monique Secula (Jim) in AZ, Col. Robert P Bender Jr. (Angela) in AL and Amy Shotting (Ken) in MD; seven grandchildren: James Tabinski Jr., Dr. Emily Tabinski-Greenspon, John Tabinski, Corrina Chmelik, Dr. Madeline Bender, Victoria Bender, and Kenny Shotting; five great-grandchildren: Emmett and Charlotte Greenspon, Coralynn, Penelope, and Baylin Chmelik; and a sister, Maggie Smith (Ollie) of Hollidaysburg.

Helen graduated from St. Benedicts Academy in 1954, the Pittsburgh School of Nursing in 1957, and retired as a RN from the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

Helen was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. She enjoyed taking care of her family.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9am Monday, March 29, 2021, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 312 Clark St. Hollidaysburg, with Fr. Alan E. Thomas, Celebrant. Interment at Greenlawn Cemetery.
