Helen Dolores (Saylor) McCoy

July 22, 1931 – July 11, 2024

Helen D. “Dolores” (Saylor) McCoy, 92, of Altoona, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late G. Lester and Helen S. (Imler) Saylor. She married Edgar E. McCoy Jr., who preceded her in death in 2018, after sharing 70 years of marriage.

Surviving are two daughters: Joan Claycomb and husband, Lewis, in WV and Karen Moughemer and husband, Dennis, of Altoona; three sons: David B. and wife, Rosemary, of Hollidaysburg, Richard E. and wife, Donna, of Roaring Spring, and W. Scott and wife, Christy, of Dover; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by three grandsons; a sister, Pauline Bardell; and two brothers: William and George Saylor.

Dolores was a member of Carson Valley Church of the Brethren.

She enjoyed camping, crafts, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dolores loved her church and church family.

Friends will be received from 5pm to 7pm Tuesday July 16, 2024, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. A funeral service will be held at 11am Wednesday July 17, 2024, at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Bradley R. Runkle officiating.

Private interment at Alto Reste Park.
