Idella Ann (Geroskie) Skupien, 91, of Duncansville, passed away Wednesday. She was born in Colver, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Jingeleskie) Geroskie.
Surviving are four children: Joseph Smychynsky (Connie), Sharon Schmitt (Dale Hoffman), David Smychynsky, all of Duncansville, and Gregory Skupien (Jennifer) of Huntsville, Alabama; six grandchildren: Timothy Smychynsky of Hollidaysburg, Shelly Hall (Daryl) of Duncansville, Kelly Mellott (Wade) of Duncansville, Jessica, Jacob, and Ashley Skupien, all of Huntsville, Alabama; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Skupien; her first husband, Joseph Smychynsky; her second husband, Leo Skupien; five sisters: Alexandria Zawacki, Nellie Datsko, Roseanne Koss, Genieve Evans, and infant Rita Geroskie; and two brothers: Edward Geroskie and Henry Geroskie.
Della attended Central Cambria High School. She retired from Warnaco Sportswear. She was a dedicated mother and raised five children.
Della was known for her culinary skills and loved teaching her grandchildren how to cook and bake. She was renowned for her baked goods of bread and pies. Her son, Jeffrey, had compiled her recipes in a book, “Della’s Desserts”. She loved hosting family dinners especially during the holidays.
Friends will be received from 9 to 11am Monday May 8, 2023, at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Duncansville, where a funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11am with Msgr. Robert J. Saly, Celebrant.
