Iva M. (Glasgow) (Carberry) Pennington, 99, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born in Bellwood, daughter of the late John B. and Viola V. (Hostler) Glasgow. She was the last surviving of 9 children.
She married Walter C. Carberry in June 1948, who preceded her in death in December 1995. She then married Robert C. Pennington in October 2007, who preceded her in death in February 2009.
Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Debra Carberry and husband, Dr. Gary Toth of Pittsburgh; two sons: Alan Bary Carberry and wife, Jackie in Richmond, Indiana and Dr. Jeffery Carberry and wife, Verna of Somerset; and four grandchildren: Christa, Adam, Bradley, and Craig.
Iva was a member of the Hollidaysburg Church of The Brethren for 76 years, where she served as a member on different church boards, as assistant treasurer, Sunday School teacher and a member of the church choir for 55 years.
She was a member of the Hollidaysburg Eastern Star, a lifetime member of Penn State Alumni Association, the Blair County Association of Retirees and the Friends of Hollidaysburg, and the Sylvain Hills Ladies Golf Association. She taught for 28 years in the Hollidaysburg Area School District.
All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
Private interment at Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Cemtery.
