James R. McCloskey, 85, of Lakemont, passed away Tuesday at his residence after an extended illness. He was born at home in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Addie and Dorothy (Mathews) McCloskey.
Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Anna (Gibson) of Sacramento, CA; three daughters: Patty Hill of Hollidaysburg, Vonnie, and Chris; three sons: Addie Parker, James Jr., and David A.; many grandchildren; and a sister, Cora Helsel. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel in 1982.
Jim graduated from Hollidaysburg High School and earned a BS degree from Kaplan University. He served in the US Air Force from 1954-1962.
He retired as a Truck Driver in 2008.
Jim was a former member of the Lakemont UMC, where he became a Lay Minister.
He enjoyed trucking and working on cars.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
