James S. Peters, 78, of Duncansville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, surrounded by his family. He was born in Butler, son of the late Carl A. and Margaret (Groves) Peters.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Evelyn (Jornales); five sons: Daniel and wife Jennifer, Jimmie and wife Laura, Darren and wife Danielle, Alex and wife Jessica, and Warren, all of Hollidaysburg; 13 grandchildren; and two sisters: Judith Makray and Linda Switzer. He was preceded in death by a brother,Carl Peters Jr.
Jim graduated from East Brady High School in 1964 and earned an AST while serving in the US Navy.
He served in the US Army Reserves for 7 years, then enlisted in the US Navy and retired after 20 years as a Chief Petty Officer.
Jim attended Berean Baptist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, country music, traveling, entrepreneurship, and vacationing in Key West.
Friends will be received from 10am – 12 noon on Thursday, Sept 12, 2024 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., where a funeral service will immediately follow at 12 noon, with Pastors Andrew Hadden and Barry Fry officiating.
Interment with full military honors at Carson Valley Cemetery.
