James Reilly Obituary

March 8, 1940 – May 20, 2024

James W. Reilly, 84, of Duncansville, formerly of Altoona, passed away Monday at the Presbyterian Village Hollidaysburg. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John W. and Jean (Miller) Reilly. He married Patricia McMullen on October 10, 1964.

Surviving are his wife of almost 60 years; three sons: Stephen of Chambersburg, Greg and wife, Deann of Imler, and Matthew and wife Alicia of Hollidaysburg; two granddaughters: Lauren Reilly and Ashley Bistline; and a brother, Dennis in SC.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Sheffer.

Jim graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1958 and from the Altoona School of Commerce in 1961. He retired from Hoss’s Steak and Sea House Corporate Office as an Assistant Controller in 1999.

Jim was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Lakemont.

He was a life member of the Phoenix Volunteer Fire Department since 1960, where he served as Treasurer for the Relief Assoc. and the department for 30 plus years. He was also a member of the Central District Volunteer Firemen’s Association, where he served as Treasurer for 50 years.

Jim enjoyed fishing, going to Curve games, spending winters in Florida, spending time with family, and anything fire department related.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11am Saturday, May 25, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will immediately follow at 11am, with Msgr. Michael Becker, Celebrant.
