James E. Snively Jr.

May 29, 1947 – Sept 26, 2024

James E. Snively Jr., 77, of Maple Hollow, passed away Thursday at the James E. VanZandt VAMC.  He was born in Altoona, son of the late James Sr. and Delores (Miller) Snively.  He married Kathryn Keith in 1968.

Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years; two daughters: Monica Dietrick and husband Jeff of Altoona, and Lisa Snively and boyfriend Duke of Duncansville; three grandchildren: Dennis, Hannah, and Emma; a great-grandson, Theo; three sisters: Judy Kraynek, Jamie Gonsman, and Rebecca Whitesell; and a brother, Kenneth.

Jim graduated from Hollidaysburg HS in 1965 and earned a BS in Education from PSU, and served in the US Navy from 1966-1970.

Jim retired from Altoona Vo-Tech as an electronics teacher for 25 years.

He was of the Catholic faith.

Jim enjoyed being outdoors, shooting, and was a general handy-man who was always willing to help everyone.

Friends will be received from 12-2pm and 4-6pm on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. where a funeral service will be held at 10am Wednesday.

Interment at New St. Mary Cemetery.
