John F. Burr, 71, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Joseph and Bertha (Stahl) Burr. He married Tanya Granato in 1990.
Surviving are his wife and best friend of 39 years; a daughter, Tricia Sidney and husband Jason of Hollidaysburg; a son, Shawn Greaser and wife Mandy of Altoona; four grandchildren: Major, Jillian, Roan, and Jacob; and a brother, Joseph, and wife Carmella; and a sister-in-law, Mona “Cookie” Carland. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jenna, and a brother, Ralph.
John graduated from Hollidaysburg High School and attended the Ivyside Art Institute. He was proprietor of Burr Quality Painting, Inc.
John was masterful with his talent of art and made a living doing what he loved. He spent years enjoying cruises with his wife, Tanya, and friends. He enjoyed frequenting yard sales and gardening. John was the “Mayor of Dysart Avenue.” He enjoyed spending time with his friends and wife at the Tea Merchant. John made sure his grandchildren were spoiled and made his love known for everyone giving each grandchild a nickname “Akio”, “Big Mac”, “Jack” and “Jake”. John was a man who was a wonderful husband, father, and friend to many people. He impacted the lives of so many and will be cherished in our hearts.
Friends will be received from 4-6pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a memorial service will immediately follow at 6pm. Rev Dr. John A. Godissart officiating.
