John Henry Moyer, 77, of Puzzletown, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Roaring Spring, son of the late Edward and Marie (Eger) Moyer. He married Helen Bearer in 1971.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years; a daughter, Nancy Cherry and husband Michael of Altoona; two sons: John A. of Puzzletown, and Richard and wife Tammy of Hollidaysburg; three grandchildren: Jason, Julia, Joey; and a great-grandson, Raiden; three sisters: Jane Hufford, Agnes Carper, and Susan Lanzendorfer; and three brothers: Francis, Sherman, and Robert. He was preceded in death by six siblings.
John Henry was a plumber all his life.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received from 3-5pm on Friday Jan 27, 2023 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Newry, with Fr. Allen P. Zeth Celebrant. Private committal at New St. Mary Cemetery.
