Aug. 31, 1947 – June 7, 2025
John A. Taylor Jr., 77, of Altoona, passed away Saturday at James E. Van Zandt Medical Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late John Sr. and Lillian (Blair) Taylor. He married Patricia Etters in 1974, who preceded him in death in 2022, after 48 years of marriage.
Surviving are his two daughters: Jacklyn Weibley and Cathleen Taylor; two stepsons: Dwayne Haun and wife, Dena and Garry Haun and wife, JoAnn; four grandchildren: Paige, Megan, Marissa, and James; several step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers: David and wife, Lynn and Daniel and wife, Aggie and several nieces and a special nephew.
He was preceded in death by a stepson, Mark Haun.
He was a 1965 graduate of Southwest Butler High School and served in the U.S. Marine during the Vietnam War.
John worked as an insurance salesman, a financial manager at Fiore and retired as an over the road truck driver.
He was a girl scout leader and enjoyed playing BINGO at the VA, archery, bowling, and hunting.
Friends and family will be received from 11am-2pm Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2pm.
