Kay J. Kulig, 88, of Homewood at Martinsburg, PA, formerly of Lansdale, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday at her cottage after an extended illness. She was born in Hazleton, PA, the daughter of the late Harry and Mabel (Hinkle) Borneisen. She married Norman C. Kulig, Sr. on December 26, 1959. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2022. Surviving are four children: Sharon Beckstead (Donald) of Hollidaysburg, PA, Daniel (Jen Forester) of Hershey, PA, Timothy (Jill) of Osceola, WI, and Nanci (Bil Kasenchar) of Ambler, PA. Also, daughter-in-law Victoria Kulig, of Middletown, PA. Kay enjoyed spending time with her 13 grandchildren: David Beckstead and Amanda Kowalski, Rachel Kulig and Katie Barwin, Gabrielle Kulig, Jessica and Olivia Forester, Shannon, Aaron and Owen Kulig, and Claudia, Margo and Ingrid Kasenchar. Additionally, she had seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Norman Kulig Jr., brother J.R. Borneisen, and sister Ruth Ann Grovich. Kay was a 1955 graduate of West Hazleton High School and a 1958 graduate of Hazleton General Hospital Nursing School. She retired from nursing after working over thirty years at North Penn Hospital in Lansdale, PA. Kay enjoyed reading, puzzles and spending time with her large extended family at the family campground. Kay’s legacy of caring for her family and friends lives on in everyone who knew and loved her. She was truly selfless. A celebration of Kay’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Sorge Funeral Home and condolences may be left online at sorgefuneralhome.com.
