Don’t cry because she is gone; smile because you knew her. Heaven’s gates were shining especially brightly on Monday morning, August 5 when Kenzie Schneeberger made her entrance, possibly even jumping off of the stage to entertain the children. Her incredible sense of humor was essential to a successful marriage with her surviving husband, John (Schnee) of 27 years. They were married December 27, 1997 and started their life together at Fort Benning in a one room apartment with a Murphy bed. Kenzie was a supportive military wife for eight years and went back to school to become an elementary teacher. She began her career in Cranberry School District as a kindergarten teacher while Schnee was serving in Kuwait.
When Schnee returned home to civilian life they moved to Hollidaysburg where she continued her teaching career for the past 19 years at Frankstown Elementary School. Kenzie never visited a public place in Hollidaysburg without receiving numerous greetings and affectionate hugs from dozens of adoring current and former students. She doted over all of them as if they were her own. When asked by one of these students why Mrs. Schneeberger had to die, a neighbor replied, “God was looking for a special angel and he chose her.”
The Schnee bros as she lovingly referred to Evan(16) and Adam(13), were indeed the center of her world, and as she would say, her greatest achievements. She loved them with her whole heart and cherished them with her whole being. They were her very own Golden Tiger superstars in football, baseball, and rugby, and her pride for them was beyond measure. Her four legged fur baby, Maverick, watched out the window until she came home every day to go for a walk. She was obviously his favorite person.
Kenzie always made family her priority. Her early morning “check in” calls and texts can never be replaced. She made frequent visits to Florida and Ohio where she created numerous memories with the Tingley and McCloud families.
The Schneeberger family returned from an Alaskan cruise the day before she passed and was dubbed the most fun family on the ship much because of Kenzie’s resonating laughter which will never be forgotten. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Let her sudden passing be a reminder of how short and precious life is and never pass up an opportunity to bring a smile to someone’s day in honor of Kenzie.
Also left to cherish her beautiful memory are her father, John Tingley and his significant other, Barbara Liebel of Lady Lake, Florida, sister, Brooke (Wadner) Thermidor and son Jonathan of Middleton, Florida, sister Shannon (Scot) Jones and children Ross and Sydney of Tuscan, Arizona, mother- in -law, Carole Schneeberger of Oil City, sister and brother in law, Heather(Mark) Motter and their children Maggie and Charlie of Oil City, as well as numerous other family and friends on whom she made a tremendous impact with her infectious love of life.
On April 21, 2012 Kenzie lost her beloved mother, Rita Wegley Tingley. She was also preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and her favorite father-in-law, Papa John Schneeberger.
The generous outpouring of love and generosity from friends and family has been overwhelmingly heartwarming and is greatly appreciated by Schnee and the boys.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Vietnam Veterans of America.
Friends will be received from noon-2pm and 4-6pm Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. Friends will also be received from 4-6pm Monday, August 12, 2024 at the funeral home, where a service will immediately follow at 6pm, with Rev. Rich Morris officiating.
