July 20, 1960 - June 16, 2026
Laurie L. (Bittner) Claar, 65, of Reservoir Rd., passed away Tuesday after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona, daughter of Dorothy (Shannon) and the late Leroy Bittner. She married Roy “Bud” Claar Jr. in 1978.
Surviving are her husband of 48 years; two daughters: Autumn Claar, and Amanda Kennedy and husband Kevin; a son, Roy “Buddy” III and wife Becky; ten grandchildren: Cody, Hailee, LB, Charlie, Mikayla, Easton, Anabelle, Kendahl, Maci, and Kevin, and five great-grandchildren; her mother, Dottie; two sisters: Tammy Dick and Beverly Jones; a brother, Butch Bittner.
She was preceded in death by a son, Matthew in 2008, and a sister, Danne Troutman.
Laurie graduated from Altoona High School in 1978 and retired as a care giver.
She was co-founder and an active member of Funds for Freedom to help veterans.
Laurie attended Claysburg Bible Church and volunteered with meal projects.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Bible, and attending Church. She loved talking about God.
Friends will be received from 1-3pm on Friday, June 19, 2026 at Claysburg Bible Church, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 3pm with Pastor Keith Showalter officiating.
Private interment at Leamersville Riverview Cemetery.
