Sept 9, 1929 – Oct 14, 2023
Leah F. Pine, 94, of Hollidaysburg, entered into Heaven’s gate, peacefully on Saturday, after an extended illness. She was born in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late George and Frances (Carlisle) Burton. She married William Pine Jr., who preceded her in death in 2004 after 56 years of marriage.
Leah was the loving mother of five children: Lynn A. Buchanan (Douglas) of Hollidaysburg, Patricia Diane Hall of Unityville, Mary Beth Pine-Welsh (James) of Hanover, and Jennifer E. Ellsworth (Richard) in Tucson, AZ, William “Butch” Pine of Lewisburg; 6 grandchildren: Gwen, Jason, Chelsea, Maura, Tyler, and Ashley; 11 great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Perkins.
Leah was preceded in death by a grandson, Davec Boutet in 1987, and a brother, Goerge A. Burton.
She was a 1947 graduate of Leetonia High School in OH and was a homemaker.
Leah was a mother first, and she loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed her children’s friends and was “mom Pine” to many.
Leah always had a smile and kind words for everyone she met. She loved the outdoors. In her younger years, Leah was frequently seen walking the roads and woodland paths in West Loop, always with wild flowers in her hands. She will be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday Nov 4, 2023 at the Chapel of the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the American Foundation for the Blind: afb.org, or Mending Hearts Animal Rescue: 4771 E Loop Rd, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
