Leona Julia (Kitchen) Garman, 95, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Tuesday. She was born at home in Canoe Creek, daughter of the late Luther and Clara (Slusser) Kitchen. She married Francis L. Garman in 1943, he preceded her in death in 2009, after 66 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters: Leona Gebhart, and Diane Weitzel and husband Don, all of Hollidaysburg; four grandchildren: Michele Cook (Tom), Danielle Norris (Tim), Jennifer Perry, and Jeff Weitzel (Sara); five great-grandchildren: Joshua, Joseph, Laurel, Landon, and Ryan. Leona was preceded in death by siblings: Edna Mathers, Winifred McCall, Alice Lynch, Milfred “Jake” Kitchen, and son-in-law, Frank Gebhart.
She attended Hollidaysburg High School and retired from Altoona Shoe Co. as a skiver. Leona enjoyed crossword puzzles, family genealogy, and spending time with her family.
All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg. Interment at Alto Reste Park.
