Leroy M. Helmer

Leroy M. Helmer, 87, of Hollidaysburg passed away Saturday, with his family by his side, at the Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg.  He was born in Erie, son of the late Leroy and Bertha (Juhnke) Helmer.  He married Pearl M. Fero in 1955.

Surviving are his wife 69 years; a daughter, Laurie Seiler of Hollidaysburg; four sons: David and wife Susan in WV, and Eric and wife Meredith of Duncansville, Mark of Hollidaysburg, and Andrew and wife Lisa of Duncansville; five grandchildren: Bryan, Brooke, Erin, Bryce, and Ashley; and five great-grandchildren.

Lee graduated from Academy High School in Erie in 1955, and retired from Sears after 45 years, most recently as the store manager at Altoona.

He was a member of the Rotary Club of Hollidaysburg and formerly served on the board of the United Way and the American Heart Asso.

He enjoyed mentoring small business owners through SCORE, playing tennis, golf, and basketball.  Lee was a die-hard fan of the NY Yankees and the Green Bay Packers.

Friends will be received from 10am - 12pm Monday Aug 19, 2024 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 12 noon.
