Louise Moudy Obituary

Oct 6, 1929 – June 27, 2024

Ellen Louise Moudy, 94, of Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Thursday.  She was born in Nanty Glo, PA, the middle daughter of 5 daughters to the late John Jackson Dishong and Mabel (Gillin) Dishong.

Surviving are her three children: Denise Hoover of Hollidaysburg, PA, Daniel Moudy and wife, Carrie, of Orange Park, FL, and Marsha Moudy Riley of Altoona, PA; 7 grandchildren: Clay Cameron of Hollidaysburg, PA, Adrienne Blaylock (Andrew) of Washington, D.C., Jennifer Phillips (Grant) of Greenacres, FL, George Riley, Jr. of Tallahassee, FL, Ellen Riley-Davis (Jen) of Fishers, IN, Katie Heddleston (John) of Westfield, IN, and William Riley (Mark Conner) of Hyde Park, PA; and 14 grandchildren: Sela, Rain, and Cagney Cameron, Eleanor and Robert Blaylock, Reese and Gavin Phillips, Amelia and Elizabeth Riley, Charlize and Georgia Riley-Davis, and Xander, Lincoln, and Eli Heddleston.

Louise is survived by two sisters, Marlene Leidy of Wadsworth, OH, and Jackie Simmons of Johnstown, PA.  She was preceded in death by two of her sisters, Lola Urban of Akron, OH, and Faye Cunningham of Mineral Point, PA.  Louise is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews whom she dearly loved.

Louise was a 1946 graduate of Ebensburg Cambria High School.  She retired from SKF Industries where she had worked as an assembler.

Louise had a strong Christian faith.  In her early years, she was a member of the Pike Grace Brethren Church in Johnstown, PA.  She later joined Leamersville Grace Brethren Church where she served as pianist, and then later joined the Frankstown Park Missionary Church where she served as church organist for 35 years.

Louise dearly loved all her family, with her grandchildren being very near and dear to her heart.  Louise loved to sew and crochet and those most fortunate in the family have an afghan, handmade by her.  Most of the family will remember Louise fondly as the one who made delicious gobs and brought them to all the family reunions.

Friends will be received from 12 pm to 2 pm Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Sorge Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 2 pm with Rev. Roland Cadle officiating.

Private interment will be at Pike Brethren Church Cemetery, Johnstown, at the convenience of the family.
