Aug 20, 1935 – April 18, 2025
Marguerite E. (Baker) Ryan, 89, of Duncansville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday April 18, 2025, in her home, surrounded by family. Marguerite was born August 20, 1935, in Altoona, the daughter of Joseph and Ellen (Hatch) Baker. She married William Ryan of Altoona on September 29, 1954, and they were happily married until Bill went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2007.
Marguerite loved her family and was extremely proud of her children: William Jr. (Angie) and Joseph (Audrey) both of Duncansville, as well as her grandchildren: Joshua and McKenzie Ryan; and her great-grandson Bradley Ryan.
She is survived by her sister Pauline (Baker) Rodgers, whom she loved dearly, as well as her nieces Connie (Phillip) Smith and Mary Ellen (Larry) Everhart. She was also blessed with great-nieces and nephews: Adam, Alex, Daniel, Rachel and April.
Marguerite was a member of St. Patrick Church in Newry, where she sang in the choir for many years, eventually becoming the choir director. She was always a faithful Christian and lived a life that reflected her strong beliefs.
She truly loved animals and always had cats, dogs, horses, and any stray that wandered in. She loved camping, singing and playing the guitar with friends and family, feeding the birds, and in her younger days was quite the accomplished hunter.
Marguerite loved to have fun. She and her best friends would often make outrageously crazy gifts for one another; exchanging them on Christmas Eve in the St. Patrick’s choir loft.
She had many friends that loved her, especially her dear friend Lorraine Knisely, who had her Heavenly Homecoming last April. They both loved music and are surely singing together with the angels right now.
Marguerite was dearly loved by her family as well as her many friends. She will be greatly missed.
Friends will be received from 4 – 7pm Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon Friday April 25, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church Newry.
Committal at Calvary Cemetery.
