Mairian B. (Quirin) Meintel, 92, of Altoona, passed away Sunday at her residence. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Walter and Inez (Kunsman) Quirin. She married Richard J. Meintel, who preceded her in death in 2018 after 70 years of marriage.
Surviving are a daughter, Dr. Patricia J. Meintel (Scott); a son, Richard and wife Farris, all of Altoona; three grandchildren: Ben, Ryan, and Allison; and six great-grandchildren; two sisters: Joan Hitchings in IA and Lorraine Funk in NJ.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Oakes, a brother, Robert Quirin, and a younger sister, Winifred Quirin.
Marian graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1947 and retired from Bell Atlantic as a phone operator.
She was a member of Bell Telephone Pioneers, where she was known for making hundreds of stuffed teddy bears for childrens’ ambulance rides.
Marian was a life-member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and spending time with her family.
