Marie (Blanchard) Kauffman

March 24, 1936 – May 26, 2021

Marie (Blanchard) Kauffman, of Altoona, formerly of Mercersburg, passed away Wednesday with her family by her side. She was born in Muncy, daughter of the late Edward and Martha (Lawton) Blanchard. She first married Gene E. Ward, then Richard M. Kauffman, both of whom preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters: Panzy Fortney of Mt. Union, Kim Weaver and husband Richard of Patton; three sons: Kurtis and wife Sherri of McConnellstown, Roger and wife Allison of Altoona, Scott and wife Tracy of Williamsburg; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Beverly Carodisky of Danville. Marie was preceded in death by a Daughter, Gene Kaplin, in 1977, and a brother, Charles.

Marie retired as a CNA and private care giver. She was a former member of the United Presbyterian Church in Mercersburg. She enjoyed reading the Bible, camping, and being a seamstress.

Friends will be received from 5-7pm on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 7pm with Pastor Tiffany Marvich officiating.  Interment at Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.
