Mary Elizabeth (Elliott) Cavrich

March 19, 1929 – July 7, 2025

Mary Elizabeth “Betsy” Cavrich, 96, of Hollidaysburg passed away Monday at Garvey Manor. She was born at home, in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Merrill and Erma (Keifer) ElliotT. She married John V. Cavrich on August 24, 1956 who preceded her in death in 2012 after sharing 56 years of marriage.

Betsy was a descendant of William Holliday, one of the founders of Hollidaysburg.

Surviving is her daughter, Barb Sherry and husband, Bob of Chest Springs; two sons: John D. and wife, Jean, of Hollidaysburg and Joseph W. and wife, Connie of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren: Ashley Nelson, Caroline Bondi, Victoria Cavrich Berry, and Annie Cavrich; and five great-grandchildren: Nora, Leah, Luke, Miles, and Lucy.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Lou Elliott and a sister, Ann Romberger.

Betsy was a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School.

She worked before marriage as a dental assistant in Altoona, then became a full time mother.

Betsy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hollidaysburg where she was involved in the start-up of the church’s Christian Education Department in the +1960’s.

She enjoyed her family, home, cooking, and baking for her friends and family.
