Maxine J. (Markel) Doughty

May 15, 1939 – Feb 11, 2025

Maxine J. (Markel) Doughty, 85, of Altoona, passed away Tuesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Canoe Creek, daughter of the late Robert and Verna (Weirick) Markel.

Surviving are two daughters: Theresa Doughty and Cindy Doughty (David), all of Altoona; two sons: Joe (Chelle) in MS, and Rich (Jenny) of Altoona; a grandson, Deacon; two sisters: Goldie Markel and Betty Lou Couch; three brothers: Jim, Don, and Ed Markel; and the Culp and Doughty families.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Meeka; and siblings: Bob and Dorie.

Maxine graduated from AAHS and was a homemaker.

She enjoyed babysitting, reading, and growing plants.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
