Mildred A. (Claycomb) Carberry, 84, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday at Garvey Manor. She was born in Alum Bank, daughter of the late Herman and Gertrude (Fickes) Claycomb. She married Joe L. Carberry, who preceded her in death in 2019.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca J. Goven (Paul) in TX; two grandsons: Andrew L. (Angela) and Stuart D. (Matthew); four great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Geisel; a brother, William Claycomb; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Alma Jean and Anna June; and two brothers, Charles and John.
Mildred was a 1953 graduate of Bedford High School and retired as a secretary from Hollidaysburg Area School District.
She was Past Worthy Matron of Hollidaysburg OES Chapter 471, Jobel Court No. 11 LOSNA, Charter member of International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Holliday Assembly No. 15, and was a Grand Cross of Color recipient. She served in these positions for over fifty years. Mildred was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Hollidaysburg.
