Minnie W. (Mayes) Shaffer, 91, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Sunday. She was born in Lewistown, daughter of the late Arthur and Irene (Brown) Mayes. She married Calvin L. Shaffer, who preceded her in death in 2020 after sharing 42 years of marriage.
Surviving are two daughters: Beth Ann Sutton and Sherry Harker (Dennis); a son, Donald Wyatt (Tracy); 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a brother, Russell Mayes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Moshkovski; a son, Chuck Shaffer; grandson, Mark Adam Holdren; a sister, Grace Yon; and two brothers: Edwin and Robert Mayes.
Minnie graduated from Allentown Bible School in 1950. She earned a BS in Education from Eastern Nazarene College and a Master’s in Counseling Education from PSU. Minnie retired as a School Counselor from Bedford County after 31 years.
She enjoyed traveling and reading.
Friends will be received from 1 to 3pm Friday January 19, 2024, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 3pm.
