Palmer E. Sweeney Jr., 78 of Williamsburg, passed away Saturday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Palmer Sr. and Marie (Deyarmin) Sweeney. Surviving are a brother, Donald; and a nephew, Scott Sweeney, both of Williamsburg; step-children: Lugene Byrnes and Cindy Stevanus; a sister-in-law, Gloria Sweeney; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his companion of 53 years, Shirley Hamilton.
Palmer graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1960, and served in the USMC from 1960-1964. He retired from Roaring Spring Paper Products after 40+ years as a paper cutter. Palmer was a member of the American Legion Post 456 in Williamsburg.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being an outdoorsman with his dog, Nikki.
Friends will be received from 3-5pm on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 5pm. Pastor Charles Sprowls officiating. Interment at Royer Cemetery.
