Paul J. Newman, 93, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Saturday at Garvey Manor from natural causes. He was born at home in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Walter and Florence (Kautz) Newman. He married Christina Hoover in 1950.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years; a son, Steven and wife Peggy in FL; two daughters: Dianne Billotte and husband Douglas of Hollidaysburg, and Linda Libra and husband Peter in FL; sisters: Donna Baker of Hollidaysburg, and Kay Chamberlain of Altoona; and four grandchildren: Christopher (Kate) Billotte, Zachary Libra, Lindsey (Evan) Miller, and Megan Libra. He was preceded in death by two siblings: Marguerite Kachelries and Dean.
Paul graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1945 and served in the US Navy during WW II and Korea. He retired as a rural mail carrier with the USPS. Paul was a member and past President of the Hollidaysburg Lions Club and the Blair County Rural Letter Carrier Association. Paul was a lifetime member of St. John's Reformed Church, where he also served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He sang in the church choir and always enjoyed listening to music. He belonged to several antique car clubs and enjoyed attending car shows.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation service by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.
