Peter Bennett Reeves, 63, a long-time resident of Altoona, Pennsylvania passed
away on March 3, 2023. We would like to believe that his body is now whole and
his spirit free.
He was born in Lexington Park, Maryland at Patuxent River Navy Base on August
15, 1959 to his late parents, Mary Carr Reeves and Lawrence Reeves.
He is survived by his sister, Melody Williams and her husband, Steve Williams; his
nieces, Miriam Yavener and Rachel Johnson; his nephew, Max Yavener; and his
grandnephew, Dominic Johnson. Pete is also survived by his loving aunt and uncle,
Nancy and Lou Roberto. Pete had others aunts and uncles and extended cousins
whom he loved dearly. His long-time girlfriend, Judy Huss, predeceased him in
2016. He loved their animals, most particularly his dog Toby, who died in 2022.
Judy’s children, Bobby Huss and Amy Jo Huss, who passed away in December of
2022, were part of his life for a long time and he cared for them deeply.
Pete had a hard life with the loss of his mother when he was just nine years old. He
and his sister were left with a father who was not prepared for the rigors of single
parenthood. Pete was a kind soul with a good heart and bad luck. He loved his
animals and living a simple life.
Pete had some very rough patches in his life but he learned valuable life lessons.
The stories are those that should only be told over a beer. He went on to live a life
of kindness and caring.
Pete worked at Blair Image Elements in Altoona for over 13 years until he
sustained a broken hip which left him unable to stand unassisted. He was a heavy
sign assembly person. He was proud to leave a little bit of himself in each sign as a
legacy to his workmanship. Pete loved his work, the company and the people with
whom he worked.
Pete will be cremated and it was his wish to have his ashes scattered with his
beloved animals. He hoped to be
remembered by those who loved him and knew him best.
At Pete's request, all services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc.
