Ralph M. Mielnik, 98, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona. He was born at home in Hollidaysburg, son of the late Michael and Josephine (Hryn) Mielnik. He married Veronica E. Slowik Aug 27, 1947.
Surviving are his wife of 74 years; a daughter, Karen J.; three sons: James J., Raymond M., all of Hollidaysburg, and David R. and wife Nancy in WV; five grandchildren: Ralph, Fred, Maria, Jessica, and Amanda; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Josephine Gates. He was preceded in death by siblings: Isabelle, Michael, Edward, Raymond; and a daughter-in-law, Lois.
Ralph graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1942 and served in the US Marine Corps, Special Weapons Unit, Tarawa, 1943. He retired from Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 354.
Ralph was a member of the Hollidaysburg American Legion Post 516, the Allegheny Club, and the Bavarian Aid Society.
He was a life-member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
Friends will be received from 5:30pm until 8pm on Sunday, Aug 15, 2021, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., where a Vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Monday at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Committal with full military honors at Greenlawn Cemetery.
