Richard E. Harp, 88, formerly of East Freedom passed away on Wednesday. He was born in Nanty Glo, son of the late Victor E. and Agnes (Mahute) Harp. He married Theresa J. McCabe, who preceded him in death in September 2017, after sharing 56 years of marriage.
Surviving are three daughters: Cynthia A. Harp of VA, Mary T. Longarini and husband, Ricardo, of Philadelphia, and Melissa A. Holland and husband, Mark, of Holly Springs, NC; three sons: Richard J. and wife, Renee, of Gallitzin, Edward P. and wife, Lisa, of Roaring Spring, and Matthew T. of Seattle, WA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Rose of Warminster and Sylvia Zambanini of Bechtelsville; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by siblings: Frances Harp, Raymond Harp, Charles Harp, Ernestine Harp, Ralph Harp, and Leonard Harp.
Richard graduated from Nanty Glo High School in 1952 and served in the US Army. Richard was retired from Hobart in Altoona.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Newry, PA. Richard enjoyed fly fishing, hunting, and watching Turner Classic Movies.
Friends will be received from 12 to 1pm Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1pm, with Fr. Allen P. Zeth, Celebrant.
