Richard E. Keagy, 91, of Duncansville, passed away Thursday, surrounded by family, at the family home he built. He was born in Duncansville, son of the late William and Jesse (McCachren) Keagy. He married Rose Marie Warner, who preceded him in death after 59 years of marriage.
Surviving are nine daughters: Dianne Contreras of Woodbury, Christine Lingenfelter and husband Richard of Duncansville, Deborah Walters and partner Gary Eisenberger of Williamsburg, Marcella Connacher and husband Michael of Canoe Creek, Cecilia Stanley of Blandburg, Charlotte Walker and husband Doug of Williamsburg, Celeste Weidlich and husband Ronald of Claysburg, Kathleen Elmore and husband Bob of Marysville, Andrea Keagy-Eichenlaub and husband Robert in Florida; a son, Richard and fiancé Linda of Duncansville; 29 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth; and a sister-in-law, Mary Anne Keagy. He was preceded in death by siblings: William, Charles, Raymond, Robert, Shirley, Betty, and Grace.
Richard graduated from Hollidaysburg High School and served in the US Army during Korea. He retired from Conrail as a welder, then continued working as a carpenter.
He was a member of Altoona Horseshoe Chorus and a founding member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, where he sang in the choir.
Richard enjoyed working, reading, feeding the birds, wood crafts, gardening, and fishing.
Friends will be received from 6-8pm on Monday, Sept 20, 2021, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass with Military Honors will be celebrated at 11am Tuesday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Duncansville. Msgr. Robert J. Saly celebrating. Committal at Carson Valley Cemetery.
