Robert J. Armagost, 76, formerly of Grampian, PA, died Wednesday evening, September 28, 2022, in his home surrounded by family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 26, 1946, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Robert Jay and Rita Mary (Diehl) Armagost.
After graduation from Curwensville High School in 1964, he served in the United States Army, spending time in Oakland, California and Saigon, Vietnam where he proudly served during the Vietnam War. After his time served, he worked for Clearfield Distributor and retired after 25 years with the company. In 1988, he met the love of his life, Beverly R. Zeth, who preceded him in death in 2008. They were married in Grampian and renewed their vows at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry, where they were members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Beverly, a sister Mary Beth (Armagost) Phillips, and a stepson Paul Zeth.
The following family members survive him: sister Linda (Armagost) Young married to the late William, brother Rick Armagost married to Tracy, nephew Jerry Phillips Jr., nephew William J. Young married to Sara, niece Tanis (Young) Snyder married to Michael, niece Janis Young and fiancé Don Martin. Special to his heart were the following stepchildren: the late Paul Zeth married to Vicky, Ricky McCulloch married to Patty, Randy McCulloch, and Barbara (McCulloch) Diehl married to Timothy; grandchildren Brandon Zeth (married to Danette), Gale Johnsonbaugh (married to Rex), Danell Grager, Chelsea Diehl, Lauren Diehl, Keria McCulloch and Jeffrey McCulloch, along with numerous great grandchildren.
He enjoyed being with family, hunting, watching Penn State, Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirate games with his son-in-law, and loved sharing his childhood memories with friends and family. He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his newest great grandson. Bob will be remembered for his humor, smile, and love of sports. Memorials may be given to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry, or to the American Cancer Society.
Family and friends will hold a Celebration of Life dinner privately. Arrangements by Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg with burial at the New St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg. At his wish, no services will be held.
