Robert L. “Rob" Colondo, 52, of Duncansville, passed away peacefully surrounded by wife and loving family on January 25, 2024, after a brief illness at UPMC Hospital in Altoona. He was married to his loving wife, Mellissa K. Kaplan-Colondo, with whom he shared 24 years, and just celebrated their 4th wedding anniversary on January 25, 2024.
Rob was born in Spangler on April 14, 1971, to Robert C. and Anna Mae (Selensky) Colondo of Hollidaysburg. He was a 1989 graduate of Central Cambria High School. Rob retired in 2018 with the Pennsylvania State Police after 25 years of serving with Troop G in Hollidaysburg, following his serving in Bedford after graduating from the academy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Juniata. He enjoyed his X-Box and playing video games, game nights with his buddies, gardening, traveling the world with his wife, watching Marvel movies daily, riding his electric bike, and listening to music, especially Pink Floyd. He had a love for trains and train collecting. He was the world’s greatest Pop Pop and best friend to his grandson, Weston.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Heather C. Yeager-Long (Eric) of Lebanon, PA, Christian C. Kaplan of Lancaster, CA, Jennifer E. McCallay (Anthony) of Greensburg, PA, grandson, Weston Walker McCallay, sister, Stefanie Colondo of York, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lawrence and Mary Colondo and Andrew and Victoria Selenksy, and his favorite Uncle Richard Selensky.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Sorge Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 422 North Juniata Street, Hollidaysburg.
A Funeral Service will be on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11AM at Dry Run Independent Baptist Church, 670 Valley Forge Road, Duncansville.
He will be laid to rest at Carson Valley Cemetery.
