Roger “Pete” E. Hammel Sr., 79, of Duncansville, passed away Sunday. He was born in Claysburg, son of the late Elmer D. and Dorothy (Harker) Hammel. He married Georgia Simpson, who preceded him in death in 1999.

Surviving are two daughters: Sue Gonsman and husband, Richard and Christine Garman and husband Micheal; three sons: Roger E. Jr. and wife, Pamela, Louis and wife, Elizabeth, and Edward; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters: Betty, Dorothy, Sally, and Judy; and a brother, Thomas.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Barb and Jean.

Pete retired from General Refractories in Claysburg.

He enjoyed sports and spending time with his family.

All services are private at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg.

Private interment at Leamersville Riverview Cemetery.
