Ruth J. Tiernan, 95, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday. She was born in Hollidaysburg, daughter of the late Austin F. and Anna (Murphy) Tiernan.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Anna Tiernan of Hollidaysburg; two nieces: Maureen Keefer and husband, Jeff in VA, and Karen O’Donnell and husband, Mark in MD; and a great niece, Anna Keefer.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Margaret Kramar, a brother, Deacon John Tiernan, and a brother-in-law, John Kramar.
Ruth graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1945 and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. She worked as an RN and retired as a Nursing Home Inspector for the state of Pennsylvania.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, where she was a member of Legion of Mary.
Ruth was a very creative person, who enjoyed art and poetry. She especially enjoyed drawing portraits of her family. She was also a huge Notre Dame football fan.
