Sharle J. (Wilt) Kirkham, 91, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Howard M. and Leta (McFadden) Wilt.
She married Harry R. Kirkham, who preceded her in death in 2009 after sharing 58 years of marriage.
Surviving are a daughter, Sandra J. Harteis and husband Joe of Duncansville; two sons: Gregory R. and wife Sandra of Lancaster, and Joel A. and wife Katherine in VA; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Denise Madden and Karen Savoy; four brothers: Ben, Terry, Phil, and Steve Wilt.
She was preceded in death by siblings: M. Richard Wilt and Drucilla Montgomery Baronner.
Sharle graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1949, worked at the soda fountain at Treese’s Drug Store, and was a homemaker until her children were raised, then she worked in customer service at Wissinger’s, Jubilee, and Martin’s Grocery Stores.
She formerly served as Judge of Elections in the seventh ward, was a charter member of the Hollidaysburg Community Chorus, and played the bells in the Hollidaysburg Community Band.
Sharle was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Guild and a member of the choir. She was a Eucharistic minister of communion.
She enjoyed singing, vacationing, spending time with her family, and volunteering at the Altoona Food Bank.
Friends will be received from 3-6pm on Thursday Dec 28, 2023 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am Friday Dec 29, 2023 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Committal at Alto Reste Park.
