Thomas G. Baker, 72, of Catfish, passed away unexpectedly Saturday at UPMC Bedford Hospital after a pulmonary embolism.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Floyd and E. Ruth (Bowser) Baker. He married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Helsel in 1971.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years; twin sons, Michael and wife Cheryl of Claysburg, and Mark of Catfish; five grandchildren: Eric Baker, Joshua Baker, Michael Thomas Baker; estranged grandchildren: Alyssa Ingram, Justin Baker, and two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Floy Wright and Bonnie Edwards. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Michelle in 1976.
Tom graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1969. He started farming on the fender of a tractor at five years old and became proprietor of the Baker Farm in Catfish.
He attended shooting events at nearly every Sportsmen’s Club in the area.
Tom enjoyed fishing with his buddy, Terry, hunting, and shooting. He was a passionate and accomplished farmer.
Friends will be received from 3-6pm on Wednesday July 24, 2024 at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6pm.
