Thomas A. Smilnak

Thomas A. Smilnak, 53, of Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday at his residence. He was born in Altoona, son of the late George F. and J. Hermina (Utzman) Smilnak. He married Barbara Hughes in 1990. Surviving are his wife of 30 years; a daughter: Marissa of Hollidaysburg; two sons: Bradley of Hollidaysburg and David in OH; three sisters: JoAnn Goodwin and husband Rodney in CA, Sherri Fidel and husband Erik in CA, and Constance Sweat and husband Dan of Williamsburg; a brother, James and wife Karen of Hollidaysburg; and nieces and nephews; and special friends: Ken Hough and Bill Sheehan, and honorary children: Zoe and Jacob.

He was preceded in death by brothers Ernest and Robert Susa. Tom graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School in 1985. He formerly owned Hollidaysburg Ceramics, Borough of Hollidaysburg, and retired from Penn State in waste management. He was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, and he enjoyed camping, woodworking, and taking care of his family.

Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, October 18, 2020 At Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a Vigil Service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am Monday, October 19, at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg. Fr. Alan E. Thomas, Celebrant. Committal at Calvary Cemetery.
