Virginia M. (Ott) Smithmyer, 95, of Duncansville, passed away on Sunday. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Anthony and Lena (Heiss) Ott. She married Charles J. Smithmyer on June 10, 1950 in Newry who preceded her in death in 2001 after sharing 51 years of marriage.
Surviving are her five children: Jacqueline A Ralutz, Charles F. (Shelly), Michael P. (Kim), John E. (Michelle), Kent E. (Teresa); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Robert, Sheldon, Edward and Francine.
She was preceded in death by an infant son Gregory C; and four brothers: William, George, Anthony, and James.
Virginia graduated from Hollidaysburg High School in 1947. She worked for the Sears Credit Office and retired in 2000 from the Blair County Mental Health Department.
She was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Duncansville.
Virgina enjoyed traveling, reading, going to NASCAR races, and Pirates and Steelers games with children and friends.
Friends will be received from 10 – 11am on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Duncansville, where a funeral Mass will follow starting at 11am with Fr. Jeremy Mohler, Celebrant.
Private interment at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
