Wanda Liebal

October 21, 1933 - September 10, 2025

Wanda E. Liebal, 91, of Altoona passed away Wednesday. She was born at Canoe Creek, daughter of the late Raymond S. Leaper and Dorothy Ella (Wileman) Wilson. She married the late Robert C. Liebal of Ganister on August 29, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Williamsburg with Father Francis Hoy officiating.

Surviving are her four children; daughter Theresa Green (Michael) of Altoona, son Michael (Dawn) of Altoona, son Mark (Monica) of Roaring Spring and son Derek (Michele) of New Germany;as well as half brothers: Raymond of Hollidaysburg, Philip of Altoona, Dan of Huntington, Don of Reading; as well as half sisters: Wyona of Bellwood, Leona of Altoona, Patrella of Hollidaysburg, Trish of Altoona, Paula of Williamsburg and Janet of Reading; along with 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by husband Robert Liebal, son David, two brothers Clarence (Mike) Leaper and Charles (Stoner) Leaper and a half brother Dwayne Allen.

Wanda resided at the Children's Home of Williamsburg for a number of years with her brothers during her childhood and went on to graduate from Hollidaysburg Senior High School in 1953. 

She was a member of the Roaring Spring Fire Company and Roaring Spring Ambulance Club. 

Friends will be received from 11am to 2pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Sorge Funeral Home where a funeral service will follow at 2pm with Pastor Stephen Durr.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pennsylvania Humane Society or the American Cancer Society.
