Wilbur F. Amigh Sr., 91, of Lakemont, died Saturday at Altoona Center for Nursing Care. He was born in Nanty Glo, son of the late John and Ethel (Lee) Amigh. He married Sara J. Hewitt in 1947 and she preceded him in death in 1992.
Surviving are: his daughters: Beverly J. Aungst of Lakemont and Marjorie A. Ansman of Altoona; six grandchildren: Natalie, Joe Jr., Kimberly, Bobbi Jo, Billy, and Amber; five great-grandchildren: Dustin, Jillian, Brandon, Dillan, and Meredith; a brother, Sheldon in New Jersey; nieces and nephews; and his faithful furry companion, Tippy;
He was preceded in death by his sons: James, in 2005, and Buzz Jr., in 2017; six sisters and two brothers, and his companion, Martha Coho.
Wilbur was a member of Lakemont United Methodist Church, where he was head usher and greeter for many years. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was an electrician for Conrail for 27 years.
He enjoyed bowling, playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing, and gardening. Later in life he enjoyed playing poker with his family and friends. He enjoyed ginseng hunting with his son, Buzz, and family.
Friends will be received from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday October 9, 2019, at Sorge Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Interment with military honors will be at Blair Memorial Park.
