Hazel M. Hall Shaw, 102, of Hollidaysburg, formerly of Newry, passed away Saturday, May 6th at Garvey Manor.
She was born May 6, 1915 in Loretto, daughter of Tibertus and Augustine (Flick) Eckenrod.
Hazel was twice married, first to Patrick Joe Hall, then Wilfred F. Shaw, both of whom preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters: Elaine Taylor and husband, Tom; Diane Farabaugh and husband, Ron; a son, Leroy and wife Nancy; a step-daughter, Ellen Shaw Stultz; a step-son, Dwight Shaw; many grandchildren, numerous grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Joan Rudolph; a step-son, Glen Shaw; a step-daughter, Grace Adams; grandchildren: Will Shaw, Rick Shaw, Christine Louder and Lisa Gurham.
Hazel completed grade school at St. Michaels of Loretto.
She worked as a buttonholer for Puritan Sportswear.
Hazel was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry for over fifty years where she was a member of the Guild, served as Eucharistic minister and attended daily Mass with leading of the Rosary.
Hazel crocheted many afghans; she loved a clean house and re-decorating her home; eating out, Ritchey's ice cream and cake. She was a fan of Danielle Steel's books for many years. Hazel grew beautiful roses.
The Rosary will be prayed at 3:30pm, Tuesday, May 9th at Sorge Funeral Home, Inc., Hollidaysburg followed by a viewing from 4-7 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be concelebrated 10am Wednesday, May 10th at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Newry by Monsignor Stanley B. Carson and Father Matther Baum. Committal will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Cresson.
