Doris A. Altmanshofer, 83, Hollidaysburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning with her family at her side at UPMC Altoona.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Patrick and Mildred (Harker) Bradley. On July 25, 1953, she married Paul M. Altmanshofer at St. Brigid Catholic Church, Lilly, and he died on March 25, 2007, after sharing 53 years of marriage.
Surviving are a daughter, Patty Douglas of Hollidaysburg; a son, Matthew Paul and wife, Baerbel, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren: Julie, Kris, Caroline, Jennifer, Brian and Geromy; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Michael J. in 1978 and Mark J. in 2004; and a daughter, Mary J. Butler in 2004; two sisters: her beloved twin, Lois Forst, on May 26, 2017, and Jane Faulkner; and two brothers: Edward and Jimmy;.
Doris was a 1952 graduate of Lilly High School, and she retired as a cafeteria worker from Hollidaysburg School District. Previously, she worked for the Association for the Blind in the driver's license department. She was a long-time member of Catholic Daughters of America and a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg.
She loved traveling and playing bingo, especially during the last year at Duncansville VFW with her grandsons, Kris and Brian.
Friends will be received from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a vigil service will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hollidaysburg, Father Anthony J. Legarski celebrant. Committal will be in New St. Mary Cemetery, Hollidaysburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Duncansville VFW or Blair County Veterans Honor Guard.
